The farm

Gagliole is a small gem that captures all of Tuscany’s beauty. The cypress-lined road and the villa evoke the peace and quiet of another era and a sense of history that stirs the soul. The magnificent, slender, dark cypress trees reach up to the sky, gently waving in the wind and producing a magical effect of light and shadow.

The family

He, a Swiss lawyer and banker, she, a noted gallery manager who decided to settle in Gagliole, Monika and Thomas Bär were captivated by the magic of the Tuscan countryside, where they first met and where they would discover the love that would bind them for the rest of their lives. Over the years, their love of good wine became a true passion.

Their daughter Barbara Bertschinger – Bär is also very natureloving, but her passion is more oriented towards horsebreeding and equestrianism (www.gestuet-sonnenberg.ch).
Their son Andreas Bär is  attorney at law and partner  at Bär & Karrer, Zürich (www.baerkarrer.ch) and is intimately involved with the development of Gagliole.
The whole  family  thus stands for the continuity of this  vineyard.

The philosophy

Ancient terraced vineyards tell the story of a carefully preserved landscape. The delicate balance between soil and climate is the ideal model for those who have chosen to cultivate this land respectful of nature and its rhythms. Gagliole is an impassioned universe of persons who are determined to bring out the best that the plants and land can offer.
